The complete damage is still under review, but there has been extreme agricultural, property damage and some deaths in Haiti. Haiti is also experiencing waterborne diseases which increases the risk of illnesses to flood the country. These challenges for Haiti can have a lasting impact, but through partnership we are helping provide opportunities for these women to provide for their families even when disaster strikes. We want to encourage you to keep buying from Haiti so they can continue to rebuild.
An artisan group in Haiti shares their gratitude and has written a personal thank you the support and additional information about what organizations are helping Haiti recover.
"Thanks to your support, Manno's family and many others in our community were able to replace their roofs, receive food and clothing replacements, and other necessities. As you all know, the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew has been devastating for many communities throughout Haiti. While this will be a long road to recovery, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for the support you've shown during this time. We are dedicated to our employees and committed to supporting their families that suffered loss in the storm. You gave so that we can give, and now the rebuilding is beginning. Thank you! We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the relief & rebuilding efforts within our community across the country.
We wanted to take the opportunity to direct you to people and organizations who are based in Haiti and currently working on relief efforts in the South. These people know how to administer aid respectfully, they know the language, and do their best to support Haiti in the face of disaster.
Haiti One- This organization is delivering supplies to organizations for distribution in Les Cayes (one of the cities hit hardest). Website: https://www.haitione.org/
Mission Aviation Fellowship- MAF is one of the few organization that is able to reach many areas in the South because of bridge destruction. There are a few small airports open in the area, where MAF is able to bring in supplies. They have started to bring in medical teams and other relief support as well.
